ROCKET LAUNCH - BREAKDOWN
I was responsible for the layout, animation, FX (smoke, fire), lighting , rendering, and compositing.
For this project, I used POPs to generate the trailing particles from the rocket, and then used Pyro Solver to simulate the fire and smoke emitted from its engine. I also created the smoke emitting from the bottom of the launchpad as a separate simulation. Using a sphere as the pyro source, I simulated the smoke based on its points with the Pyro Solver. To achieve a more natural and dynamic look, I increased the disturbance and turbulence values to break up the mushroom shape smoke, and set the dissipation to 0 to preserve the smoke volume. Finally, I composited all layers in Nuke and handled the color grading and final look of the scene.
